The uphill battle of playing vampires

The premise of the vampire dial is both fun and tragic at the same time. Trying to build to the sweet spots on a vampire's dial is a grind and they are often considered easy points. The most tragic issue facing the vampire team right now is that it comes hand in hand in a set chock full of Mystics team ability. You can make progress towards points, but not so much on that dial. The two don't get along.

I found vampires to shine fairly well in sealed. My sealed team for Strang Tales release was Dracula, Mephisto, Nightmare and low point Blade. I didn't win a lot, but I did a lot. I was not short on being able to cause my opponent problems. Dracula has always been sort of cool in figures, but I really think this one is the best by far. Cost effective for points, good abilities, more than one way to heal up that dial, and very active as part of your team.

Let's take a look at a couple of teams.

This was a throw together with the idea of utilizing all of Wolverine's keywords for a cool crossover. Its main problem is offense. I don't have but two attackers, yet I can get them mobile quickly. What this team does have is punishment for outwit, prob, perplex and free actions. It might not seem like much at first, but a click here and there adds up. Free spell cards are always a plus. Images of Ikonn is squarely for Wolverine. Avatar of Animal man is bound to be overused.

A smaller version of this that will hit much harder, at least at first is this:

Practiced Teamwork lets you have Rogue carry Wolverine up to someone and they both get to make attacks. You can progress Wolverine's dial by 2 if it works out and still utilize Rogue's outwit to gain a power. The potential damage could cripple a big hitter or get rid of a general nuisance. The spell selection lets you protect your main attackers for hopefully a couple of rounds.

Once silver is fully integrated for Strange Tales (it isn't as I write this) I know I'll make a broad Avengers team. What do you think of building with vampires?

I think it's best of you don't go overboard with vampire dials on your team. Maybe a monster team that is supportive of the vampire you choose? Or for now, the strong crossteam value of Wolverine.

Thanks for giving this a read, keep clixin, and we'll talk again next time.
