Gearing up for the Venomverse
Set to release sometime in second quarter of the year, the new Venom set looks to be taking us off the rails. I've made some inquiries, but Wizkids is holding their cards close to their chests. I'm sure we'll see more soon however as this set looks to be a trove of great teasers to come.
It's clear we are getting a new Venom Thanos, and I can't wait to see how he differs from the one in Beyond Amazing. If we get to keep Spiderverse through this year's rotation, the crossover for teams could be hot. Even then, what you get for Silver has high potential.
Taking a look at Poison Captain America, I have to say I wish he was an Avenger, but then I didn't read the Venomverse stories. I have to admit I don't know entirely what he's about. I haven't seen these hive figures, but putting out dudes is a decent ability. It works pretty well for figures like Dormammu. Movement and targeting are nice, making attacks flexible with options. Reducing penetrating damage is never a bad thing. Point values are good, I probably won't touch his 40-point value with a 10-foot pole. This is a figure I prefer at full. That's not to say the 40 points isn't good, it's great. Either point value makes him easy to equip even though you can put a +1 sword on him for free. He's a solid fighter even though I don't love 3 clicks of no attack powers. The sword fixes that nicely though. I don't know that he's necessarily meta but he will fit on several team ideas easily.
Next, I'll touch on Venom Miles Morales. He really needs that shape change to make up for not having printed super senses to boost his team ability. But check out his keywords. Not only Avengers, but Horsemen! I find that particularly exciting. There have been some great Horsemen figures in the past, giving this nice potential for silver. But who else will we have as horsemen? How much synergy will they have? I can hardly wait to find out.
On the right maps, wall crawler is a great way to make up for lack of move and attack. It's decent, otherwise he's pretty slow. Don't let that dissuade you, however. Giant reach three and the physiology trait are strong together. His 60 point price tag isn't horrible either. He'll fit decently.
From these examples, the Venom set looks to offer some great value. What are your thoughts on this set? Are you fired up for it? Hit me with your comments, but not too hard, I'm fragile.
